 Owl Spot inherited the name from the abundance of owl species that call Dinokeng their home. These species include the Barn Owl, Pearl Spotted Owl, Spotted Eagle Owl, African Grass Owl, Marsh Owl, Southern White faced Owl, African Scops Owl, Giant Eagle Owl, Cape Eagle Owl, as well as the European Nightjar, Fiery necked Nightjar, Rufous cheeked Nightjar, Penant – Winged NIghtjar, and the Freckled Nightjar. 

When the sun sets over the horizon, you can hear them call as the moon takes its place up in the night sky.
